Wilderness Therapy


You will participate in a backpacking and adventure expedition that combines the benefits of outdoor living, complete survival skills program, Tim working and extensive self-working. A therapist and other qualified survival instructors lead the expedition with the responsibility of being mediators in a natural healing process. Our team is composed of professionals who strongly believe in the value of wilderness therapy and its ability to help facilitate long-term changes.

* Wilderness therapy is a subset of adventure-based therapy, which in turn is under the Outdoor Behavioral Healthcare Industry. It is the use of experiential education, individual and group therapy in a wilderness setting to treat clients with a range of emotional, developmental and relational struggles.The industry reports many teens in wilderness programs report the experience as being positive, beneficial, and enjoyable.They claim youth learn independence, patience, assertiveness, self-reliance, and maturity. Outcome studies have been completed and the industry reports they show continued improvement in behavior one year after attending wilderness therapy and new outcome studies are currently underway.
