The "Back to Roots" project aims to provide support to children and youth facing depression, social alienation, and other mental health conditions. Particularly, we emphasise the importance of preventing mental health conditions tendencies, considering the alarming 75% increase of such cases in the past year within the Istrian County. Through specially designed multi-day nature retreats, team activities, and self-acceptance practices, this project will assist children and youth in confronting their challenges, adopting a positive self-attitude, developing coping skills, and strengthening their emotional resilience.
Project Objectives:
Ensure a safe and supportive environment for children and youth struggling with depression, social alienation, and other mental health conditions.
Reduce the risk of suicidal tendencies among the target audience.
Develop specialized nature retreat programs that encourage a connection with nature, emotional healing, self-acceptance, and self-confidence.
Provide support through teamwork and therapeutic activities focused on overcoming personal complexes and limitations.
Educate about the importance of mental health and break the stigma associated with mental health issues.
Project Activities:
Organize therapeutic multi-day nature adventures based on the highly successful "ExtremeSurvive™" wilderness therapy programs, to develop skills for nature immersion, teamwork, and self-awareness.
Support workshops involving interactions with individuals who have experienced similar challenges, aimed at sharing learned lessons.
Utilize therapeutic techniques of survival and adaptation to natural surroundings to overcome depression and anxiety.
Individual and group sessions with participants.
Establish collaboration with local schools, communities, and media to raise awareness about mental health importance and reduce stigma.
Regularly monitor progress and evaluate program impact.
Expected Outcomes:
Increased awareness and understanding of the significance of mental health among youth and the broader community.
Reduction of depression, anxiety symptoms, and suicidal tendencies within the target audience.
Development of emotional resilience, self-acceptance, and self-confidence among children and youth.
Enhancement of social skills, self-awareness, and team spirit among participants.
Long-term impact on suicide prevention and support for the mental health of young individuals.
By combining the natural environment, therapeutic support, and skill development to overcome mental challenges, the "Back to Roots" Project will provide essential assistance to children and youth in their journey towards empowerment, healing, and connection with themselves, nature, and others. This project will empower them to build a strong foundation for their mental well-being in the face of future life challenges.
